Mr. Manohar Lal Patidar was born into a humble farming family in a small village (Rangwasa) in Indore district of Madhya Pradesh. Hardworking and friendly by nature, he developed a special interest in agriculture-related work from a young age. This made him deeply understand and empathize with the needs and struggles of farmers. At that time, farmers in rural areas across the country were facing major challenges related to electricity and water. After completing his education, he began contributing to agricultural work in the local markets, but his heartfelt desire was always to find ways to significantly improve the lives of farmers. With this aim in mind, he resolved to develop an affordable and durable motor-pump that would be cost-effective, of high quality, require minimal maintenance, and could provide water supply even with limited electricity consumption. Being a farmer himself, he knew well that if farmers didn’t get water even for three days, all their hard work would go to waste.

With this resolution, in 1982, he established a factory in the industrial area of Pithampur and began manufacturing motor-pumps under the brand name ‘Shakti Pumps’. Gradually improving quality and moving away from traditional cast-iron to stainless steel, he became the first manufacturer in India to produce modern stainless-steel pump-sets. Eventually, ‘Shakti Pumps’ gained recognition as ‘The Pump of the Nation’. Shakti Pumps’ products are now not only widely used across India but are also exported to many countries around the world.

In the later stages of his life, along with his values and sense of duty, he handed over full responsibility of the company to his son, Mr. Dinesh Patidar. Following in his father’s footsteps, with strong leadership, continuous innovation, and sound management, Mr. Dinesh Patidar expanded the company’s product range to include solar pumps and established a strong position not only in India but also globally in the motor-pump industry. He turned a difficult journey into a success story and fulfilled his father’s dreams.

Today, Shakti Pumps is not only India’s leading manufacturer of motor-pumps but also ranks at the top in the solar pump sector, providing employment opportunities to hundreds of young people.
